Nine passengers and two pilots escaped serious injuries after an Air Fiji plane hit the Sun Air Office in Matei, Taveuni yesterday morning after it failed to stop after landing.

Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji CEO Netava Waqa confirmed to Fijivillage that no one was injured and their teams are now in Matei investigating the matter.

Waqa also confirms that the CAAFI team will return today with updates on the accident as there are no flights available at this stage.

Police Spokersperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirms that the Air Fiji plane PC 285 left Labasa for Matei at 8am and upon touching down at the airport at around 8:30am, failed to stop and hit the building. Police officers are also at the scene investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, several attempts to speak to Air Fiji CEO Sialeni Vuetaki have proven futile.
