The plan adopted by the national sevens coaching staff is to counter the inconsistent performances of our team over the years.

That’s the confirmation from the Digicel Fiji sevens Head Coach Alifereti Dere as questions are being raised on why most players are dropped despite their promising show at the Gold Coast 7s.

Dere said changing the team will give players equal chances of showcasing their talents at the international stage as they are trying to look for the best players for next year’s World Cup.

Dere added about 10 new players will be named next week for the Dubai tournament.

Meanwhile, Lepani Botia, Joji Ragamate, Ilai Tinai and Alipate Ratini are expected to retain their spots for the Dubai leg.

The Dubai 7s will kick off on the 30th of next month.
