The plan has not change for our Digicel Fiji sevens team as they are less than nine hours away from taking on Argentina in the last quarterfinal of the South Africa 7s.

That’s the statement from the Fiji 7s team management earlier today.

Fiji was not the side as they were last week after humbling England in their first game 29-19 before they were beaten by Scotland in the second game 21-19 after the Scottish scored a last minute try.

Fiji’s final pool match against New Zealand was a classical one after the flying Fijians ran in four tries to two to record a 24-12 win and finished their pool as the number one team.

Speaking from South Africa, team manager Semi Rogoyawa said the players wanted to make amends after their 21-19 loss to Scotland even after starting well against England in the first game.

Rogoyawa added all they need to do now is to execute their plans.

Rogoyawa also confirms there is no injury worry in the team.

The last time Fiji won in South Africa was in 2005 where they beat Argentina in the final 21-19 and the last time featured in the final was in 2009 where the national side lost to New Zealand.

Top teams like Dubai 7s champions Samoa, England, Kenya and Australia did not make it to the quarterfinals.

Fiji will meet Argentina at 12:45am tomorrow in the quarterfinal.

Meanwhile, South Africa won all their matches after they ended an impressive 17-7 victory against Australia this morning.

South Africa beat France 12-5, while their first match was a repeat of last year’s Cup semi final where they were able to record a 29-7 victory against Dubai 7s champions Samoa.

Argentina and Wales reached the Cup quarter finals from Pool C in yet another enthralling contest.

Wales headed into their final match with Kenya knowing a win was required, and ensured their place in the last eight with a 33-12 victory over Kenya.

Wales beat Spain 12-5 in their first pool match, however they were pinned back in their second clash of the day when Argentina came from behind to beat them 12-7 in a tense clash.

Portugal entered the Cup stage for a second successive HSBC Sevens World Series tournament after winning all three of their games on the opening day in Port Elizabeth.

The Portuguese got their campaign off to a solid start beating USA 26-12 before narrowly beating Zimbabwe 17-12 and ended the day with a resounding 28-7 win over Canada, confirming their place in the Cup.

USA won their second match against Zimbabwe 21-17 and will join Portugal in the Cup.

Meanwhile, in other quarter finals, South Africa takes on USA at 11.39pm, followed by Wales and New Zealand at 12:01am tomorrow then Portugal will take on France in the third quarterfinal at 12:23am.

The cup semifinals will kick off at 3:49am tomorrow and the Cup final starts at 6:30am tomorrow.
