Damodar Brothers Films Limited the operators of Village 6 and Village 4 cinemas has raised concern that copies of pirate DVDs and CDs are still being sold on our streets despite the copyright law coming into effect last year.

Chief Executive Officer Div Damodar said the sad part is that some movies that are yet too been screened, are being sold by some DVD sellers for as low as $1.50 to $2.

He said one such example is the movie Blindside which was being sold by DVD operators one week prior to the screening.

According to Damodar, because of piracy they had to cut down their screening sessions for Blindside from eight to two sessions per day.
