By purchasing a pirated copy of the recording of a local artist, you are taking away part of their livelihood.
Those were the words of Acting General Manager of the Fiji Performing Rights Association Mathew Fackrell, in relation to the high number of pirated CDs still in circulation which is being sold at a much cheaper price.
Fackrell said Fiji's piracy problems are also having an impact on our neighboring countries.
The Fiji Performing Rights Association paid out $200,000 to their local songwriter members in Suva over the weekend.
