Phelps Wins 8th Gold Medal
The 23 year old American teamed up with Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen and Jason Lezak to claim the historic gold in a new world record time.
They held off Australia and Japan to claim glory in a world record time of 3 minutes 29.34 seconds.
He had already won the 400m medley, 200m free-style, 200m butter-fly, 4 by 100 metre free relay, 4 by 200m free relay and 200m medley, all in world record time. It also took his Olympic medal haul to 14 gold ans 16 overall.

Meanwhile, American legend Michael Johnson described the 100m record breaking time of Jamacain Usain Bolt as the greatest performance in the history of the event.
Bolt broke his old record of 9.72 seconds with a new time of 9.69 seconds to become the worlds fastest man.
Johnson, a multiple Olympic champion who still holds the 200m and 400m world record said that he have never seen anything like that before when Bolt slow down with 10 metres to go but still set a new record.
Looking at the Beijing Olympic medal tally...China still leads with 27 gold, 13 silver and 8 bronze. USA at second spot with 17 gold, 18 silver and 22 bronze.
Germany is third place with 8 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze while Australia on 4th spot with 8 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze.
