Princess Rd residents are putting together a petition to handover to the relevant authorities on their grievances regarding the construction of the American Embassy at Tamavua.
Construction work goes on until early hours of the morning disturbing residents and Princess Rd resident, Verna Rahiman said this is not on as the Princess Rd is a residential area. Rahiman also questions the permits for such a construction.
Rahiman is also organizing a petition to handover to the relevant authorities on their grievance.
Tubou St resident and student, Larry Holmes said the noise from the construction is a nightmare and adds that residents are truly affected.
In reply, the US Embassy said that the US Government and New Embassy Compound contractors take their responsibilities seriously to conform to all relevant regulations and to inconvenience neighbours as little as reasonably possible in the context of a major construction site.
The Embassy adds that their contractor, in this case, Fletcher Construction has worked closely with the Suva City Council and Fiji Government of Fiji to obtain all the appropriate permits.
Fletcher Construction has reserved their comments on the issue.
