The New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters and Australian Foreign Minister Alexandra Downer are currently meeting in Auckland and high on the agenda is the situation in Fiji.

News talks ZB reports that Downer has assured his counterpart that the New Zealand Government's position on Fiji has the full backing from Australia as they discuss the ongoing difficulties they face with Fiji.

Downer is also reported to have commended the way New Zealand has handled the expulsion of High Commissioner to Fiji, Michael Greene earlier.

Meanwhile, both Australia and New Zealand have also warned its citizens on the strikes by the unions in Fiji, to take precautions and exer.

Interim Tourism Minister Bernadette Ganilau had said that countries like Australia and New Zealand should allow its citizens to make up their own mind about Fiji and are misleading their citizens on the situation in the country.
