All permits issued to various organisations and social groups to hold public meetings and gatherings have been revoked due to the Public Emergency decree which is now in force.

It has been confirmed that the various Commissioners in the four divisions are in the process of informing those parties who were issued with the permits earlier to hold Annual General meetings or other large public gatherings that they will not be permitted to hold such gathering until further notice.

Permanent Secretary for Defence and National Security Josefa Matau said it is the responsibility of the individual Commissioners to liaise with Police to make the decision to revoke permits and it is usual practice that permits for public gatherings are not issued while the Emergency regulations are in place.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Nursing Associations AGM scheduled to be held in Lautoka this weekend has been postponed until further notice.
