Permit needed to hold rally
Police Director of Operations, SP Waisea Tabakau said the planned National Youth Day Rally to be held on Saturday at Kalabu Village Hall will need a permit as it is a public meeting.
However, Young People's concerned Network Spokesperson Peter Waqavonovono said after seeking legal advice they were told they did not have to obtain any permit as the they would be holding the rally in a village setting outside of the city area.
He said the rally, called the Gone i Taukei Rally, planned for this Saturday by the Young People's Concerned Network and the Provincial Youth Council in Kalabu Village will be an avenue for indigenous youths to give their views on what is currently happening to the Fijian Chiefly administration.
Waqavonovono said a lot has developed and this would be an opportune time to listen to what indigenous youths think as members of the Military and the Interim Administration would be present.
