“Hurricanes halfback TJ Perenara is not ready for a national call up.”

That is the statement from All Blacks coach Steve Hansen after many felt that the 20-year-old halfback should be included in the All Blacks wider training group that assembled in Wellington yesterday.

Hansen admitted that he is impressed with Perenara’s form but he would not change his mind about the four halfbacks he has in his training squad.

Perenara was instrumental in the Hurricanes demolition of the Rebels on Saturday and he is expected to feature for the Hurricanes again this Saturday against the Waratahs.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs lead the Super Rugby points table with 53 points, the Stormers are second with 50 points and the Brumbies lead the Australian conference with 45 points.
