Hurricanes halfback TJ Perenara is in doubt on whether he will be fit to play the Crusaders in Wellington on Saturday.
Perenara hurt his ankle during an inter squad basketball match.
The incident occurred this morning during a conditioning session but coach Mark Hammett said the extent of the injury will be known later.
The loss of Perenara would be a major blow with the young halfback excelling this season with his support play and short kicking game.
The Crusaders will take on the Hurricanes at 7.35pm this Saturday.
Meanwhile, at 7.35pm this Friday, the Blues will play the Highlanders and at 9.40pm the Reds will take on the Stormers.
