Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and head of the Catholic Church in Fiji Archbishop Petero Mataca have been appointed the Co-Chairpersons of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.

The President Ratu Josefa Iloilo announced this morning, while officially launching the People's Charter for Change and Progress, that Commodore Bainimarama and Archbishop Mataca will jointly head the council.

It was also announced at the launch that the President will appoint a total of 40 people to be part of the national council.
However due to various travel sanctions in place, the interim government is still searching for suitable people to be part of the council.

The first task once the National Council is formed will be to produce an Independent Report on " The State of the Nation and the Economy" and will be on the political, economical and social status of Fiji and the draft will be prepared by six National Task Teams that will be formed to assist the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.
