Gold medal winning Fiji 7s team coach, Ben Ryan is confident the Fiji Rugby Union will find the right person to replace him.
Ryan and his wife, Natalie left the country yesterday carrying with them the fairytale memories from Fiji.
Speaking to the Reuters News Agency, Ryan said there is a lot of talent in Fiji but expertise remains thin on the ground.
He stressed that people will need to be patient with the new Fiji 7s coach.
Ryan has also indicated that there should be more help for coaches in Fiji.
He said Fijian coaches have traditionally adopted roles as mentors or spiritual guides but have yet to truly embrace science and technology in their work.
Ben Ryan is returning to his home in London to consider offers from Super Rugby franchises in New Zealand, Australia and the Sunwolves.
The Fiji Rugby Union has advertised the position of the Fiji 7s coach locally and abroad.
FRU Chief Executive Officer, John O’Connor says the new 7s coach will be appointed before the start of the 2016/2017 World Rugby 7s series.
The Dubai 7s kicks off on December 2nd.
They have also advertised the women’s coach post as Chris Cracknell has also confirmed that he also wanted to move on after the Rio Olympics.
The Fiji Rugby Union says Ben Ryan will provide some help behind the scenes prior to the announcement of the new coach.
