The Water Authority of Fiji has called on residents in the Central division especially in Nausori, Suva areas including Delainavesi, Lami and Veisari to collect enough water as a power blackout occurred at the Savura Pumping Station and Waila Treatment Plant.

Spokesperson Maika Nagalu said the power blackout has shut down pumps, and as a result the water purifying process will cause low levels in the Tamavua and Wainibuku reservoirs.

Nagalu said they do not know when power will be restored but have asked residents to use water wisely and save rain water for other family purposes.

He added it will take some time for supply to normalise after power has been restored.

He has asked residents to call 3346777 for queries and services.

Meanwhile the whole of the Central Division is currently without electricity supply.

FEA has confirmed that the main generator in Kinoya experienced some problems at around 10.30am which caused power disruptions in the Central Division.

Technicians are working on the problem and there is no time frame by when power supply will normalise.
