People are being urged to practice proper hygiene at all times as typhoid cases are now at a high with 112 cases in the country.

The number has increased from 99 on Monday to 112 as of yesterday.

The Health Ministry said almost 60 initial cases have already recovered with no deaths so far.

There were 25 cases recorded in the North, 42 in the west and 45 for Central and Eastern including three cases sent from Taveuni.

Fiji College of General Practitioners President and a doctor based in Nadi, Dr Ram Raju said people need to be aware of what they eat as well, apart from just concentrating on drinking water.
