As thousands of residents still remain without power, it has been established that some people are now cutting off the Fiji Electricity Authority cables to take out copper.
Village News has been reliably informed that a number of cables were targeted on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Central and Eastern division.
This is making things even more difficult for the FEA technicians who are working around the clock to restore power supply.
Head of the Police Operations Centre, Jone Ravulo is concerned after receiving the report.
People are advised to call the FEA or police if anyone is seen stealing the cables.
The FEA is now calling on people to co-operate with them and assist in stopping others from cutting cables and stealing copper.
Meanwhile, in the Central division, work is still underway to restore power in the affected areas.
It said power sharing has been implemented in some places in the Western Division which include Balevuto in Ba, Natabua, Saweni and Waiyavi in Lautoka, Votualevu and Nadi Back Road.
Rakiraki and the remote rural areas are still without power and technicians are currently working on the broken lines.
Residents in the Samabula Area are again without electricity since this morning.
The Fiji Electricity Authority said this is due to a broken power line.
