People present their reguregu at Viseisei village
Taukei Sawaieke, Ratu Tevita Momoedonu said this morning chiefs from the Yavusa o Naua from Saunaka, Yavusa of Mamanuca and the Turaga Na Kalevu from Nadroga presented their reguregu.
He added a delegation from the University of the South Pacific led by Professor Ropate Qalo also presented their reguregu.
Meanwhile Momoedonu said the Vanua of Cakaudrove where Ratu Iloilo’s mother comes from is expected to be at Viseisei tomorrow before the body of the late Tui Vuda is conveyed to the Vanua.
Earlier today, the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, and Members of Cabinet, government representatives paid their last respect to the late Tui Vuda and former president Ratu Josefa Iloilo who is now lying in state at Government house.
The funeral cortege of the late Tui Vuda and former President Ratu Josefa Iloilo led by the Fiji Military Forces left the Suva Private hospital this morning to make its way to Government House.
The casket of the late Tui Vuda was followed closely by the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and also members of the Military Council which included the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Lt Colonel Pio Tikoduadua and Colonel Samuela Saumatua.
This morning, Students from Nasinu Secondary, Ballantine Memorial School and Adi Cakobau School lined the streets from the Suva Private Hospital, down Waimanu Road, Marks street, Thompson Street, Victoria Parade and right through Queen Elizabeth Drive to Government House.
Members of the public planning to travel along the Queens Road on Tuesday are advised to re-schedule their travel plans as the chiefly hearse makes its way to Viseisei.
Ratu Iloilo will be laid to rest on Thursday and at the end of the burial, the Fiji flag will be hoisted to full mast followed by a 21 gun salute.
