The people of Udu in Totoya, Lau are using every single spare minute to try and get things back to normal before Cyclone Tomas.
Josese Salabiau Navesi Primary School head teacher in Udu village said even through the Easter Long weekend they would attend to their plantations in an effort to be self sufficient within the next few months.
Salabiau said they have taken this step as they know there are a lot more people who have been affected and authorities have a large area to cover in terms of ration distributions.
Meanwhile, Acting Director DISMAC Pajiliai Dobui said in some areas only assessments have been carried out and DISMAC will deliver the food rations next week, once the boats are available.
People have been asked to please be patient as distribution of food rations takes a lot of time due to the geographical locations of the areas that need to be covered.
