People from all walks of life donated towards the Communications Fiji Limited nationwide appeal and walk today for people severely affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Many that came forward to donate say they are trying to help in any way they can to assist their fellow Fijians who have been affected by Monster Cyclone Winston.

A 70-year-old woman in Lautoka came forward to donate earlier today. 

The woman who was in a wheelchair said that she knows the hardship these people are facing and she wanted to help.

In Nadi:

A man who had only $10 with him decided to donate it to people who are affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Samuela Dinataki said he decided to donate his money as other people who are affected need it more than him. 

An 82-year-old man who is under the Social Welfare Scheme also donated towards the appeal today.

Baram Naidu from Sanasana in Nadi said that he receives $50 every month under the scheme and decided to donate $20 to those affected. 

Naidu hopes this will help anyone who needs it.   

A 37-year-old man who sells samosa everyday decided to donate all the money he made today. 
 
Navin Chandra said he made $45 from selling samosa today and decided to donate it to people who are in need.

In Sigatoka:

Ravin Kumar from Sigatoka who donated today says that everybody should help because we are one family.

Suva:

A 6-year-old boy encouraged his father to donate towards the Cyclone Appeal.

He asked his father if they could personally hand deliver the cash donation at the home of Fijivillage at 231 Waimanu Road.

A mother from Narere Priscilla Watti came with her children who had collected money for those affected by the cyclone.

8-year-old Ishika Prasad from Vatuwaqa accompanied her grandmother to donate towards the appeal today.

The class 4 student said she is donating so that she can help other students go back to school.

Meanwhile, 57-year-old Lalita Prasad from Vatuwaqa came to Suva twice with her whole family to donate.

Prasad said she can feel what those people are going through who have been affected by this cyclone.

Despite the rain in Labasa, people have come out in numbers to donate towards the appeal.

The President of Naleba Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vincent Shayam who came to donate on behalf of the people of the church said true religion is to help each other especially during times like this.

In Sigatoka:

Ravin Kumar from Sigatoka who donated today says that everybody should help because we are one family.

The Legend FM, FM96, Viti FM, Navtarang and Radio Sargam teams are based at a number of centres around the country today to collect cash donations.

Personalities from our five radio stations are also walking from Nausori to Suva.

Among them was 70-year-old Ram Kripal of Mead Road, Tamavua who walked with our team from Nausori to the home of Fijivillage at 231 Waimanu road Suva. 

Kirpal travelled from his house in Mead Road to Nausori this morning to join the team. 

He said he decided to walk for the people affected by the Tropical Cyclone Winston and he did it without any difficulties. 

Kripal who works at the Defence Club said he feels overwhelmed to be part of this appeal and urges people to get together and help people affected by cyclone Winston.

Personalities from our five radio stations walking from Nausori to Suva

They walked along the Kings Road to Ratu Dovi Road, Nabua, Grantham Road, Milverton road, Brown Street and end at the home of Fijivillage at 231 Waimanu Road.

We were based outside Lautoka's Jolly Good Restaurant, next to Nadi's Raniga Jewellers, outside Tappoos Sigatoka, at Hansons in Makoi today.

Our personalities were also based at Rups Nausori and Suva's Tappoo City, and were also at Labasa's Hotel Takia Arcade.

You can also bring your cash donations to the home of Fijivillage at 231 Waimanu Road.

Cash donations can also be made to the Communications Fiji Limited Westpac Appeal Account 9800 935 794.

All cash donations collected will then be coordinated through the National Disaster Management Office to assist those in urgent need of food, water and shelter.

Please we are calling on people around the country to donate as this will assist people who are affected by the Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Let us all come together and help our fellow Fijians who are in desperate need of food, water and shelter after the devastation caused by Monster Cyclone Winston last month.
