People had to fork out a bit more money to buy some items last month.

The Bureau of Statistics report shows that prices for vegetable, dairy products, coffee and Yaqona went up by 0.3%.

Warm beer, cigarettes and alcoholic spirits recorded an increase of 0.5%, while prices for household goods including electrical appliances, furniture and travel goods went up by 0.1%.

The Bureau stats shows that higher prices were recorded for women's and children's clothes as well as children's shoes which went up by 0.3%.

Meanwhile, lower price was recorded for diesel which went down by 0.1% while the price of laundry goods and toiletries also recorded a decrease of 0.1%.

According to the Bureau of Statistics the average inflation rate for 12 months to March this year, stood at 5.0% compared to March 2009 which was 6.5%.
