Due to the ignorance of the people of Fiji, the night scene in any neighbourhood could be considered as Diwali every night.
Those are the words of Fiji Electricity Authority CEO Hasmuk Patel who said due to the low cost of electricity in Fiji people are not bothered to conserve energy.
As FEA contemplates an increase in its tariffs, Patel is calling on consumers to practice energy saving measures and to switch off unnecessary lights and appliances not in use as the FEA will from this month utilize generators to provide 70% of the power on Viti Levu in attempts to preserve the water levels at the Monasavu Dam.
