The Chairman of the Constitutional Commission said he has suspicions that some people are afraid to appear to give their submissions to the commission although all types of submissions are being made.

While taking submissions in the West a few days ago, Professor Yash Ghai said this is his assessment although many people have come forward and made submissions that criticize some of the current policies or decrees.

Fijivillage questioned Professor Ghai what is the basis of his suspicions that some people are afraid to appear before the commission and to clarify what are the fears. We also asked Professor Ghai if these comments can affect the process as people are coming forward to give submissions.

He only said that this is based on conversations with some people.

The commission is taking submissions in Nadroga this week.
