It is alleged that Kumar and Mau in 2006 conspired together and processed a bonus payment of $48,191.86 which was supposed to be paid to Kumar without being authorized to do so by the Higher Salaries Commission.
Mau, who is charged with abuse of office, is alleged to have committed an arbitrary act by approving the bonus payment without authorization causing prejudice to the rights of Post Fiji Limited.
Kumar, who is charged with extortion, is alleged to have accepted the bonus payment of $48,191.86, which was beyond his proper pay and reward for the performance of his duty.
FICAC spokesperson, Maraia Vavaitamana confirmed that the charges were laid after they had been taken in for questioning this morning.
Both pleaded not guilty to the charges and they have been bailed on the sum of $500 each.
