Pedestrians warned
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said initial investigations show the overhang blade hit the pedestrians with one admitted at the Nadi Hospital while the other has been transferred to Lautoka.
The truck driver has been questioned and released as police investigations continue.
Mishra said vehicles should not carry any overhang load and proper safety precautions should be followed by wider vehicles which have bulldozers, logs and other heavy objects laid on them to warn others thus preventing mishaps.
Meanwhile, Police have called on motorists driving along the Queens Highway to be wary of stray animals as there has been high number of road accidents involving stray animals in the past two weeks.
Assistant Spokesperson Sgt Suliano Tevita said these accidents usually happen near villages where horses, cows and even pigs suddenly jump onto the highway and gets hit by vehicles.
Police have also called on farmers to tie their animals and keep them in their boundaries.
