Ratepayers in Tavua have been urged to pay their town rates to avoid getting into any legal problems.
The chief executive officer for Tavua Town Jasuman Khan said most of the ratepayers are up-to-date with their rates however there are some who still have not paid the rates.
She said $27,000 is yet to be paid as rate by ratepayers.
Meanwhile, Khan said they are not encountering any problems at the moment and the town affairs are running smoothly since the Town Council was dissolved.
Meanwhile, the Lami Town Council has not faced any problem since the terms of the counselors expired at the end of last month.
Town clerk Priya Ieli said their officers understand their duties and responsibilities and things have been running smoothly.
She also said that they also have not faced any problems with rates owed to the council and they have put in measures to collect the $3.8 million in rates.
