About 300 students from Dudley Intermediate School in Suva have been told to pay their school fees by next Monday or go home.

Fijivillage was informed by a concerned parent that school children were threatened to be sent home if their parents do not pay their full fees.

And this was a very important week for children as Class 8 students are preparing for their Trial Tests.

Meanwhile, when contacted, School headteacher, Doreen Ravindra said she understands the difficulties many families are facing but stressed that the school management are the ones who need the money as it is going into the 4th week of school.

She also added that close to 300 students owe fees to the school and if parents could at least come up with half of what they owe by Monday then they will be able to work something out and may even look at a grace period.

The Interim Minister for Education is expected to comment later on the issue.
