Patients admitted at the Korovou hospital were evacuated to nearby hospitals after the hospital's switchboard caught fire yesterday afternoon.
Director Curative Health Services, Dr. Ami Chand confirms some patients were discharged while others were rushed to Nausori and CWM hospital as there was no power supply at the hospital.
He said the hospital is wooden and patients’ lives were at a real risk.
Chand said the electricians are working on the fault and services are expected to normalize later today.
