The Digicel Fiji sevens team faces a must win situation in all of their pool games in Hong Kong if they want to reach the cup quarterfinal.

The Iliesa Tanivula coached side will not have an easy path to the play-offs as they will have to meet Australia sevens losing finalist USA in their last pool game.

Fiji is in Pool C with Thailand, Portugal and USA and under the Hong Kong sevens format they will either face Kenya or South Africa in the last eight if they finish top in their group.

A loss in a pool game could be disaster for the defending champion because under the HK sevens format, the top teams from the six pools go into the quarters and only the two best runner-up teams from the six pools make the last eight.

If Fiji is one of the two best runner-up teams after the pools games, then they may face either NZ or Samoa in the quarters.

Tanivula has made it clear to his players that being the reigning champion will not carry any weight in Happy Valley this weekend.
