Past results and player statistics is in favor of the Flying Fijians to beat Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup match this afternoon.

Since the inception of PNC in 2006, Fiji has won all the 5 matches with the biggest score-line in 2007 by 30 points to 15.

In the battle up front with the forwards, Fiji will be an average two centimeters taller than their opponents and 6kg man heavier in the scrum.

Lock forward Tevita Cavubati is the tallest player in the field at 2 meters which is 4 centimeters above his opposite number.

Tight head prop Setefano Somoca is the heaviest player weighing in at 122 kg which is 4 kg heavier than the two Japanese props.

The combined weight of Fiji’s forwards is 915 kg and is 51kg heavier than the Japanese forwards in the scrum.

The Flying Fijians hopes of winning their first ever Pacific Nations Cup title rests on the results of the Tonga and Samoa match currently underway.

For Fiji, a close score line between Tonga and Samoa without a bonus point win for either side will boost their chances but they have to score more than 4 tries with a win against Japan this afternoon.

Tonga is currently leading Samoa by 19-10.

The Junior All Blacks won the PNC title in 2006, 2007 and 2009.

NZ Maori won the title in 2008 while Samoa won the PNC last year.

The Flying Fijians will take on Japan this afternoon at 3.10pm and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Viti-FM.
