Australian Kangaroos fullback, Billy Slater has insisted that their shock defeat to New Zealand in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup final will not affect their 2013 World Cup campaign.

Slater is one of five remaining Kangaroos from the 34 20 World Cup final in 2008 along with Paul Gallen, Cameron Smith, Greg Inglis and Johnathan Thurston.

The Kangaroos will take on England in the opening match of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup which will be played at the New Millennium Stadium in Cadiff on the 27th.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji Bati will take on Ireland in their first match on the 29th at 7am before facing the Kangaroos on the 3rd of November.
