Passengers jump out of burning bus
Our reporter who was at the scene confirmed that the fire started from the engine section of the bus near Makoi and they witnessed the passengers jumping out the windows.
An eye witnesses also said that the driver of the bus had to leap over flames to make his way out of the burning bus.
The Land Transport Authority Officials have seized the bus for investigations. The Police and National Fire Authority are also investigating the matter.
Meanwhile a 51 year old mechanic in admitted in Lautoka Hospital after he was crushed by a bus he was repairing in Votualevu Nadi yesterday.
Western Police spokesperson, Wame Bautolu said the mechanic and an 18 year old youth were standing in front of the bus when the engine suddenly started and the bus rolled, crushing both of them against the wall.
Another mechanic got inside and reversed the bus and both men were taken to Nadi Hospital. The 51 year old fractured his hands and a leg who has been transferred to Lautoka Hospital whereas the other youth was treated and sent home.
