Concerns have been raised over some vehicles parked in front of fire hydrants in the heart of Suva which caused problems for the fire-fighters at the Parade Arcade building at Victoria Parade in Suva this morning.
The windows of one of the vehicles had to be smashed to move three cars blocking the fire hydrants at Joske Street.
Chief Fire Officer, Mark Reid said it’s illegal for motorists to park their cars in front of fire hydrants.
Meanwhile, Reid said the National Fire Authority has begun a major investigation in relation to the fire at Parade Arcade which completely destroyed the top floor which was occupied by Colonial Mutual.
Seven fire trucks are still at the scene as firefighters are still inside the building carrying out investigations.
Victoria Parade near the main ANZ House leading to Parade Arcade and Joske Street are now open to all traffic.
