Parents in the islands of the Lau group have been urged to send their children to school until they reach University level.

That was the advice from the Minister of Education, Filipe Bole during the Lau provincial council meeting this week.

Bole told the council members that children should be taught to know the importance of education to its highest level, so they can end up with secured employment in future.

Meanwhile the Council decided that Ratu Kamisese Mara College, a vocational Centre is now upgraded to Tertiary Institution which will be called Ratu Kamisese Mara Poly-technic. This should encourage the students from the Lau group to go back and study courses such as Carpentry, hospitality and Tourism.
