As people head to the beaches today to continue New Year celebrations, the police urge parents to keep an eye on their children or you will be spoken to by officers who are on patrol at the picnic hotspots around the country.
Assistant Police Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said their officers will pull children out of the water and talk to their parents if a child is found around the water unsupervised.
Sokomuri also stresses that those found drinking in public places over the New Year long weekend will be arrested.
Meanwhile, it will be a new year to forget for those drivers who spent their New Years Eve in Police Custody.
Despite several warning on not to drink and drive, people are still found to be taking law in their own hands and Assistant Police Spokesperson, Inspector Atunasia Sokomuri said three drivers were arrested in Suva alone who were caught drinking and driving.
He also told Fijivillage news that a bus driver was taken into custody this morning who on his way for a picnic with a bus load of passenger.
