Parents should not be overly dependent on the government for their children's education.

Interim Education Minister, Netani Sukanivalu said the parents should play their part well and should be prepared to bear their childrens education costs.

Sukanivalu said that the Education Ministry has assisted all parents by their free tuition fee for class one to seven and since schools re-open on Monday the third term school fees must be paid and all stationary to be purchased so that students start the new term well.

He also said that often students are the ones who suffer the late payment of fees or the non payment of fees just because their parents fail to keep their side of the bargain.
