Minister of Education, Heritage and Arts, Dr. Mahendra Reddy stresses the only resource materials that parents need to purchase are stationery and exercise books.
While speaking at a press conference today, Reddy confirmed the Ministry will make a set of resource materials available for free for every child in every class at the latest by end of March.

He said the Ministry will boost the School Text Book bank so that every student can have access to text books and novels.

He added that all schools are to give the data to the ministry by the end of the first week of term one as to how many text books and novels they need for different years.
Reddy then added the textbooks and novels will be purchased from the suppliers and distributed to schools where as the resource materials will be printed by the Ministry of Education and delivered to schools.
Meanwhile, Reddy is appealing to parents who have used text books at home to donate it to the nearest school for use by other students.
Reddy highlights they have given instructions to all schools not to give out booklists of any text books to students or parents.
