The non-budgeting of funds by parents is affecting the daily lives of school children in Vatukoula.
Head teacher of Vatukoula Convent, Ledua Niubalavu said the parents are at fault because they had received redundancy packages along with assistance from the interim Government and they did not invest the money on their children’s education.
Niubalavu also said Westech has assisted the parents and children in his school towards the end of last school term.
Of the 269 students at Vatukoula Convent School, 97% are the children of the ex-miners.
