Parents please talk to your children and tell them about the consequences of playing with matches and stress to them how dangerous it can be.
This is the advice of the Divisional Fire Officer Western Isoa Makutu after a fire completely damaged a home yesterday afternoon at Yalandi St, Lautoka.
Initial investigations indicate that the fire started in the bedroom where a child was playing with matches.
According to National Fire Authority the NFA Lautoka received the fire emergency call after 12 yesterday and upon reaching the scene the fire fighters managed to extinguish the fire and hot spots.
The one bedroom corrugated iron and timber house was damaged in the fire together with its household contents.
Two people were in the house when the fire broke out however they managed to escape through the front door.
