While the Ministry of Education has agreed to defer the beginning of term one to the 26th of January to allow parents to recover from the devastation of the floods, however most parents say they will need more time.
Nadi resident Vili Leqa said it is too early for the Ministry to consider children going back as most have lost everything.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Sigatoka resident James Bali who said families as people are trying to rebuild their lives.
The Minister for Education Filipe Bole said they are assessing reports continuously and requests for any assistance will be provided through re-directing funds from within the Ministry.
Bole said they will keep the option of deferring the open of certain schools depending on the assessments and damages sustained.
