Parents Frustrated With School Closure
Jeremaia Daucakcaka whose children attend Suva Grammar said that classes are running as normal.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Daucakacaka said that he had contacted the school today and was informed that the school was open.
Suva Grammar confirmed the principal had issued the directive to have classes as water and electricity was running as normal and majority of the children were already in school.
The Interim Minister for Education Filipe Bole had this morning informed the public that all schools in Viti Levu were to close as electricity was cut off around Viti Levu.
However, many parents called Fijivillage from parts of the Western Division and Suva saying that they had water and power supply and are questioning why it was said that the whole of Viti Levu had no power which resulted in the closure of all the schools in Viti Levu today.
The Fiji Electricity Authority restored power supply at 9.30 this morning after the power blackout from last night due to a technical problem in the main lines from Monasavu.
