NRL club Wests Tigers have agreed to release Jesse Parahi from his contract so that he can return to the Australian Sevens team.

Parahi has secured a two‑year deal with the national team with the aim of being part of his country's squad at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The 26‑year‑old played both rugby league and rugby union throughout school before spending two years in the Brumbies academy.

He then made the switch to the Australian Sevens program for five years, until he joined the Tigers in November last year and has had limited opportunities due to a number of injury setbacks.
