Jarryd Hayne’s manager Wayne Beavis said the ball is in the Detroit Lions’ court after Hayne’s name did not appear among the NFL franchise’s first batch of 12 players signed to reserve or futures contracts.
Hayne, who returned to Australia for the Christmas-New Year break to sort out the visa issues that he blamed for the delay in his signing, shocked the NRL in October when he rejected a contract that would have been the biggest signing in rugby league history.
He was linked to the Detroit Lions after he visited the franchise twice last month and underwent a physical with the team.
Hayne was also reported to have also visited the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers.
The Detroit Free Press newspaper reported on Wednesday that the Lions were waiting to resolve Hayne’s paperwork problems before they finalized their deal.
Hayne is hoping to play as a running back in NFL.
