A Pakistani national has applied to the Nadi Magistrates Court seeking access to items in a shipping container under investigation by FICAC.

Lawyer representing Furquan Rizvi, made an application to vary bail conditions earlier imposed on their client.

Rizvi's lawyers submitted that their client was seeking the release of a laptop and mobile and items in the container adding that their client's business was affected because he was not allowed to remove items from the container which Rizvi had already paid for.

FICAC Prosecutors objected to the application stating that Rizvi was charged with bribery and that the items in the container were the subject of a bribe paid while the mobile was allegedly used to communicate with the Customs Officer via text messages which were still contained in the phone.

Magistrate Sahu Khan has adjourned the matter to 25th August for ruling on the bail variation.
