Narayan also spoke to Rama Krishna Mission Sami Satnandan who confirms that they have now set up Medical Camps to tend to the sick in some of the affected areas in Nadi.
And after listening to the on the ground situation and desperate cries for help, Fiji Water has this afternoon donated 20 cartons of bottled water to our Team in the West to be distributed to families in the Ba area who are still without proper water supply.
Also Golden Manufacturers has contacted our team to ascertain which are the worst of the affected areas and will liaise with them to distribute 500 food packs from Saturday.
The Rama Krishna relief along with Brisbane based radio station Brigvani are also liaising with Vijay Narayan and our team on those in need of desperate assistance in areas such as Navakai, Nakavu, Sikituru and Vuniyasi Koromakawa where no assistance has been provided so far.
The owner of Radio Brijvani will be visiting some of these areas to distribute $50,000 worth of groceries.
However, Narayan stresses that the relief packs would only be able to sustain the families for upto 2 days after which they would require further assistance.
Meanwhile, our news director spoke to Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama this afternoon who is touring the Northern Division.
Commodore Bainimarama said the situation in the West is very devastating and people need continued assistance.
He said he will return to Nadi from the North to tour the schools and assess the damages before moving to other areas in the western division.
