Miss Tuvalu Akelita Marisa Pesega said that when she takes to the stage today, it will be for a dual purpose, to ask for help in raising awareness on the effects of global warming and also show the locals the Tuvaluan way of life.
Miss Niue Carthy Lavini said that people need to realize that culture is very important and this will be an important part of her performance throughout the week.
Miss Samoa Hope Tusiselaia said that in the Pacific, one way to get the message across is through dance and that is what she will be capitalizing on.
The 2009 Miss South Pacific Pageant continues today with the public judging expected to start on Wednesday.
