Fiji and all Pacific island countries cannot address the issue of cyber-crime or cyber advancement on their own.
That is the sentiment of the Attorney General and the Minister for Justice, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum earlier this week while addressing participants at the first IT Workshop organised by the Secretariat of the Pacific Communities in Suva.
Sayed Khaiyum said that while Fiji has been able to introduce laws that deal with crimes such as pornography and crimes committed through the internet, more needs to be done.
Meanwhile, SPC's Captain John Hogan at the consultation on the ICT Policy said that the Internet is a powerful tool however Pacific island countries are still very vulnerable.
The Workshop was an insight into what the participants could expect at the Regional ICT workshop next year to be held in Tonga.
