The Pacific Islanders and Italy are both desperate to end the year with a win at the expense of the other in their first test tomorrow.

While Italy were edged by Australia 30-20 two weeks ago, and outplayed by Argentina 22-14 last weekend, the Azzurri team can at least say they won a match this year.

The best players from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga have yet to taste a victory since they combined for their first tour in 2004.

This is their last chance for at least two more years to achieve a win.

Pacific Islanders captain Nili Latu is confident that they can overcome the Italy side today and register the first win.

The match will kick off tomorrow at 2am.
