A team of Public Works Department employees have been sent to evacuate two families whose houses are under water in Rakiraki due to heavy rain in the area.
District Officer Rakiraki, Josefa Kama has confirmed that the families will be evacuated and also confirms that due to heavy downfall a number of roads and bridges are under water and are closed to all traffic.
People are advised to keep monitoring water levels as high tide is expected in the next few hours.
