The Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama has today urged the Public Works Department to speed up the repair and maintenance works on the roads in Vanua Levu.

This follows Bainimarama's meetings with the Interim Minister for Transport, Tevita Natuva and Commissioner Northern, Colonel Inia Seruiratu.

Bainimarama said the Interim Government is committed to improving the standard of roads in the rural areas as part of its efforts to speed up developments in the rural areas.

He has requested the people in Vanua Levu to bear with the Government because the weather has not been favorable to them.

Meanwhile he assures people that funds for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the roads affected by Cyclone Gene have been provided and works are now already underway.
